Benson Financial Group, which managed $170 million when affiliated with National Planning Corp., has joined Compass Financial Resources, an Olathe, Kan.-based office of supervisory jurisdiction of Securities America. Based in Hannibal, Mo., Benson Financial has eight brokers and three staff members. "We can come to the office and be financial advisers again," said Patrick Benson, whose firm had been affiliated with National Planning Corp. since 2007. "Over the last four months, with all the DOL conversations, it's been hard to get out of bed and focus on what we do." Mr. Benson started his career at Franklin Financial Services in 1996 and joined American General Securities in 2002.
