Jackson Hewitt picks chief, shuffles execs

Tax preparer Jackson Hewitt has named Michael Yerington as its new president and chief executive.

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc., the large Parsippany, N.J.-based tax preparation company, has named Michael Yerington as its new president and chief executive. He replaces former chairman and chief executive Michael Lister. Mr. Yerington was previously president and chief executive of Jackson Hewitt. He joined the company as executive vice president and chief operating officer in July 2006 from Greenwood Village, Co.-based First Data Corp. and president of Western Union North America of Englewood, Colo. He also joins the board as a director. In other company moves, Mark L. Heimbouch has been promoted to senior executive vice president and chief operating officer and Margaret Richardson has been elected non-executive chair of the Board of Directors. Mr. Heimbouch was previously executive vice president and chief financial officer at Jackson Hewitt. He will continue to oversee the Finance and Accounting functions and Investor Relations as interim chief financial officer until a new CFO is named. Ms. Richardson, a former commissioner of Internal Revenue at Jackson Hewitt, joined its board of directors in June 2004.
