Focus Partners Wealth is integrating key operations of Kovitz Investment Group, while Rothschild Wealth Partners has acquired Windgate Wealth Management.

Focus Financial Partners disclosed that Chicago-headquartered Kovitz Investment Group is moving the majority of its business into Focus Partners Wealth which is expected to add approximately $35 billion in client assets to Focus Partners Wealth’s existing $140 billion in client assets (measured as of September 30, 2025).

The move was announced last year and strengthens Focus Partners Wealth’s presence in multiple US markets. Kovitz, long recognized as a large independent advisory organization, brings institutional-style investment management and wealth planning capabilities to the Focus platform.

“We have made rapid, substantial progress in our strategic evolution as a company, thanks in no small part to the visionary, client-first leadership of Kovitz, Focus Partners Wealth, and our other Focus Partners firms,” said Michael Nathanson, CEO of Focus Financial Partners. “As we work together to do even more for our advisory teams and their clients, we saw a natural opportunity with Kovitz to continue the convergence of our core US wealth businesses to build on our strong momentum.”

Rothschild acquires Windgate

In a separate announcement, Rothschild Wealth Partners said it has acquired Windgate Wealth Management, an independent RIA overseeing more than $200 million in client assets.

Windgate’s leadership team will join Rothschild as part of the transaction, further expanding Rothschild’s advisory capacity in the Chicago market. The deal continues Rothschild’s recent growth push, led by its chief growth officer Mac O’Brien, as the firm looks to expand its national footprint. Currently Rothschild Wealth Partners also serves clients in the Oak Brook, Northbrook, Glen Ellyn, Denver and Nashville markets.

"Windgate Wealth Management brings a legacy of building long-term relationships with their clients that aligns closely with our firm's commitment," said Phil Johnson, president and partner at Rothschild Wealth Partners. "By combining our knowledge, resources, and commitment to a client-first philosophy, we are confident that together we can deliver even greater value to individuals, families, and businesses in the Chicago market."
