Some of LPL Investment Holdings Inc.'s most noted and longest-affiliated advisers will see a windfall once the company goes public and shares begin to trade. LPL has long had a stock plan in place for its advisers in which its reps and advisers have earned shares based both on their number of years of service at LPL and their assets under management. Recent public filings associated with LPL's imminent initial public offering have revealed the stock accumulations of a number of its top producers. (Click here for a chart of 25 of the largest holders of LPL stock -- and how much some could earn off of sales of their stakes following the public offering. For one, Ronald Carson, president of Carson Wealth Management Group, currently controls 74,930 shares. He will offer 48,705 shares as part of the impending offering, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. If the shares are priced at $30 — the high end of LPL's target — Mr. Carson will see a gain of $1.46 million after the IPO. Another high-profile adviser, Susan Kaplan, president of Kaplan Financial Services Inc., controls 64,670 shares and will offer 42,036. At $30 per share, she will see $1.26 million. Other prominent advisers at LPL who stand to see significant returns on their loyalty to LPL include Robert Fragasso, $690,000; John Waldron, $989,000; Michael Gilbert, $895,000; and Todd Feltz, $822,000. Those advisers are among the most prominent in the firm and in the industry. According to LPL, Mr. Carson this year controlled $2.4 billion in assets under management, and Ms. Kaplan controlled $800 million. They have also been with the firm for decades. Mr. Carson has been affiliated with LPL since 1989, and Ms. Kaplan began to work with LPL in 1991. (Hundreds of individuals also currently hold smaller stakes in LPL.
