Choosing the right RIA conferences to participate in

There are dozens of financial advisor and RIA conferences happening all year. This is why picking which events to attend can be challenging. To determine suitable events, start with your business plan, and not the event brochure.

Look for agendas that match your current focus, whether that is technology, advanced planning, or M&A, and confirm that sessions offer CE or skill-based outcomes. Many top advisor conferences highlight their mix of technical content, practice management, and CE as core reasons to attend. Use this as a benchmark when you compare options.

From there, narrow your list to events that attract the right peer group and decision-makers for your firm. Many growth-focused advisors limit attendance to three to five in-person events a year, balancing one tech, one practice‑management, and one investment‑focused conference. This mix keeps your calendar realistic and turns time away from the office into better processes, stronger teams, and sharper advice.
