The entries in the second annual Advisor Podcast Awards showed a cross section of themes and envelope-pushing narratives across three unique categories.

In the Educate & Empower category, the winning podcast was Take Back Retirement, a show geared toward Gen X and baby boomer women looking for retirement advice.

Podcasts co-hosts Stephanie McCullough and Kevin Gaines use conversations and interviews with subject matter experts to cut through myths and mysteries surrounding the financial transition to retirement.

The other finalists in the category were Jake of All Trades, hosted by Jake Rivas, and Bullet Wealth, hosted by Scott Marek.

The winner in the Walking the Talk category was 2050 Trailblazer, which directly addresses the lack of diversity in the financial planning industry by engaging with industry experts and leaders to encourage cultural awareness. This podcast is hosted by Rianka Dorsainvil.

The other finalists in the category were Ballentine Broadcast: Conversations on Black Wealth. hosted by Akeiva Ellis, and NextGen in 10, hosted by Alanah Phillips.

The winner of the third category, Beyond the Numbers, was Common Cents on the Prairie, which is hosted by Adam Cox. Cox designed the podcast to help his audience do more with their money, regardless of where they are financially.

The other finalists in the category were Mitlin Money Mindset, hosted by Lawrence Sprung, and The Wealth Edit, hosted by Emily Fleming and Lauren Pearson.

The event, which is co-sponsored by FiComm Partners and InvestmentNews, wrapped up several weeks of whittling the 55 submissions down to the nine finalists who participated in the live awards show.

“We are seeing a huge acceleration of advisers creating original content and leveraging digital mediums such as podcasting to drive meaningful change for people and their money,” said FiComm Chief Executive Megan Carpenter, who hosted the awards show Tuesday afternoon.

"The Advisor Podcast Awards is an important opportunity for the industry to recognize the advisers who are paving the path with this human-first digital marketing approach,” Carpenter said.
