States where financial literacy is highest in 2022
Amid April’s celebration of National Financial Literacy Month, WalletHub has ranked the 50 states and the District of Columbia on their residents’ financial literacy.
A quarter of each state’s score reflects residents’ financial planning and habits, based on such items as the median credit score and the share of adults with emergency funds. Another quarter of the score assesses financial knowledge and education by looking at measures like the share of students required to take a personal finance class and the portion of adults using online financial services. The remaining half of the score reflects how each state’s residents did on a WalletHub’s WalletLiteracy quiz about financial topics that was completed by more than 34,000 respondents.
The states are ranked by their score out of a possible total of 100. The slides also show how the state ranked in each of the three categories.
