10 companies paying negative overall tax rates
The U.S. corporate tax rate in recent years has been 35%, and in 2017, members of the S&P 100 index of large U.S. companies paid an overall tax rate of about 39%. But some companies in the index actually had a negative overall tax rate last year, according to a Wallet Hub report based on companies' annual filings.
Of course, going forward the corporate tax rate will be a much lower 21%, courtesy of the tax overhaul enacted late last year.
