Capital Investment Cos. of Raleigh, N.C., has added four financial advisers.

James Beam, 45, is a Hickory, N.C.-based adviser registered with Capital Investment Group Inc.

He is responsible for providing clients with financial advice and services needed to make financial decisions.

Previously, Mr. Beam was a Cherryville, N.C.-based adviser with Allstate Financial Services LLC of Lincoln, Neb.

Cort Meinelschmidt, 33, is an adviser with Sentinel Capital Solutions Inc., a Hagerstown, Md., registered investment adviser that he founded in 2011.

He is responsible for life, health and variable-insurance licenses.

Previously, he was an adviser at Centra Bank of Hagerstown.

Chelsea Miller, 24, works with Mr. Meinelschmidt at Sentinel Capital Solutions as an office manager, analyst and chief operating officer.

Previously, she was a financial assistant at Centra Bank.

Charles Pendergraft II, 46, is president of The Pendergraft Group Planning and Asset Management LLC of Charlotte, N.C., now affiliated with Capital.

He is responsible for investment strategy, client acquisition and retention.

Previously, Mr. Pendergraft was a senior vice president at Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. of New York.

In addition, J. Marshall Culp III, 56, formerly a Raleigh-based registered representative at H. Beck Inc. of Bethesda, Md., Capital’s securities arm, is now with Capital Investment Group and Capital Investment Advisory Services LLC.

He is responsible for helping individuals and families with investment management and estate planning.

Achaean Financial Inc. of Chicago has named H. Thomas McMeekin, 59, to its board of directors.

At Achaean, he will leverage his asset management experience to accelerate the national expansion of the company’s patent-pending income guarantee variable annuity design, Income Plus+.

Most recently, Mr. McMeekin was chief investment officer at SunAmerica Financial Group Inc. of Houston.

Options Technology Ltd. of New York has appointed Ken Barnes, 41, senior vice president of corporate development.

He is responsible for leading corporate and product strategy for the Options Pipe Private Financial Cloud, as well as overseeing the firm’s business expansion across the broker-dealer and investment banking communities.

Previously, Mr. Barnes was senior vice president in the technologies division of NYSE Euronext Inc.
