Popular financial author David Bach is joining Edelman Financial Services as vice chairman.

Ric Edelman will continue as chairman and chief executive of his eponymous firms.

Edelman Financial has 24,000 clients nationwide and more than $12.75 billion in assets under management. The firm added 4,500 clients last year and is projected to do the same this year.

“I have long been an admirer of David,” Mr. Edelman said in a statement. “We know that as a team we can reach more people and give them the education and planning services they need to help them enjoy a more secure financial future.”

Mr. Bach will have a key role in the firm's educational activities, which include weekly radio and television programs, frequent media interviews, and hundreds of seminars.

“Teaming with Ric now is a professional thrill as it allows me to leverage my experience and financial education platform to reach more people and connect them nationwide to this premier advisory firm,” Mr. Bach said in a statement.

Mr. Edelman has written eight books, and two of them — "The Truth About Money" (HarperCollins, 2005) and "The Lies About Money" (Simon and Schuster, 2008) — earned him “book of the year” awards by the Institute for Financial Literacy. Mr. Bach has authored 12 consecutive bestsellers including the "The Automatic Millionaire" (Crown Business, 2005) and "Start Late, Finish Rich" (Crown Business, 2005).

The two plan to develop more financial education content that addresses financial challenges facing Americans, which they'll distribute via broadcast, print, digital and stage. They will deliver practice management training and consulting services for financial advisers to help them improve their practices and services they provide to clients. They plan to recruit hundreds of advisers nationwide to join the firm's 35 offices or manage new ones that the firm opens.
