InvestmentNews 40 Under 40 now taking nominations for 2015 awards

A winner from the inaugural season shares the difference it can make in an adviser's life.

Before you think InvestmentNews’ 40 Under 40 project is just another nomination, award or list, I have news for you: It is more than that. Why, you may ask?

Take it from someone who was chosen for the inaugural class last year. In my experience, it is 40 young professionals — all under age 40 — from across the financial advice industry, in different fields with different insights to share. They include leaders challenging the way we do business, breaking old paradigms into new, creating new lenses by which we serve clients, mentoring those in the next generation and inspiring an industry to think bigger. Our industry will be changed because people of this caliber played a significant role in creating the future of the profession.

Being on this list is not only an honor, but an opportunity. These young stars gain a platform to tell their story and raise their voices both individually and collectively. They are instantly a part of this dynamic community of 39 other professionals with whom they can collaborate (and the list of alumni only grows each year). It is a strong reference for their brand in a crowded investment world. These are only a few of the benefits for those chosen, and for the profession at large.

So take the time to nominate a peer, your adviser, someone who changed the game for your business or constantly challenges the status quo. They will receive the honor and we as a community will hear their voice — leaving a lasting impact.

Jennifer Kenning is a member of the inaugural InvestmentNews 40 Under 40 class, and is managing director of Align, a new joint venture of independent wealth management firms Abacus Wealth Partners and Aspiriant, which offers philanthropic strategy and impact investment portfolios to clients and their financial advisers.
