Ex-Detroit Red Wings star Sergei Fedorov is suing his former lawyers, claiming they share responsibility for the loss of millions of dollars invested with another client.
Fedorov says the law firm Hyman Lippitt PC had a conflict by representing him and financial adviser Joseph Zada.
Fedorov says he’s out $60 million through Zada. A Wayne County judge recently ruled that the hockey player is entitled to the money.
Fedorov filed a lawsuit Thursday in federal court in Detroit, alleging the Hyman Lippitt firm knew that Zada had been sued by others for financial mismanagement. A message seeking comment was left for Doug Hyman.
Fedorov plays hockey in Russia. He was NHL MVP in 1994 and spent 13 seasons with the Red Wings.
