Dallas Cowboy’s Dez Bryant sues former adviser over alleged theft

The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver accuses Texas state Sen. Royce West of breaching his fiduciary duty, fraud and gross negligence in the suit.

Dallas Cowboy wide receiver Dez Bryant filed a suit against his former adviser and current Texas state Sen. Royce West, citing a breach of “professional and fiduciary duty.”

This follows a lawsuit filed last month by Mr. West claiming money for the damages caused to a house rented by Mr. Bryant.

The counterclaim filed Monday, alleges that Mr. West used Mr. Bryant’s notoriety and success to “improperly line his own pockets and those of his business associates.”

Mr. West acted as Mr. Bryant’s attorney and adviser in legal, financial and business affairs, and used this position to recommend his friend David Wells as a financial manager, who fled with over $200,000 owed to Mr. Bryant, according to the suit.

Mr. West and Mr. Wells created entity called Dez I Enterprises, Inc. where Mr. West allegedly instructed endorsement companies and others to make payments to Mr. Wells, many of which never reached Mr. Bryant, the lawsuit states.

Mr. Bryant requests the court in his suit to recover all losses and fees paid.
