Legislation that would have extended various tax breaks for individuals died in the Senate last month when the votes needed to pass the bill could not be rounded up to end a filibuster. Among the many provisions included in the bill (HR 4213) were tax breaks related to state sales taxes, tuition and teacher expenses that would have been extended for one year.
