Dean Catino, co-founder of Monument Wealth Management, was told in a Merrill Lynch interview back in 1983 that he should get some sales experience. So he spent the next 17 years selling hospital and other medical supplies, eventually becoming the East Coast divisional manager of his firm. At age 40, he returned to the wirehouse and they quickly hired him.
