Average annual revenue of advisers at big firms
Few broker-dealers publicly report the amount of revenue their financial advisers generate on average each year. InvestmentNews recently began tracking these figures, and a handful of large, public firms have recently reported this information in annual reports and other filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Revenue per adviser typically includes advisory fees and sales commissions.
Last year was a particularly good one for the financial advice industry. The S&P 500 repeatedly hit record highs throughout the year and ultimately posted a total annual return, including dividends, of 28.7% — almost twice its median annual return of 15.4%.
All figures are for the 12 months ending Dec. 31. The comparison is between 2020 and 2021. All information comes from company filings with the SEC.
