The data reflect the responses of 289 advisory firms surveyed for the <a href= " https://home.investmentnews.com/clickshare/selectItems.do?CSCategory=adviserCompStaffing2019&CSPTrack=web-hpnav" target="_blank">2019 InvestmentNews Adviser Compensation and Staffing Study</a>, which was sponsored by BNY Mellon/Pershing and conducted in partnership with <a href= "https://www.investmentnews.com/article/20190905/BLOG18/190909980/why-is-adviser-compensation-flat" target="_blank">The Ensemble Practice.</a>
"Total compensation" is W-2 income and does not include any profit distributions. The compensation values reported are medians, and not all the people in a position receive all the types of income.
