LPL IPO: The biggest winners
Robinson, an alumnus of Smith Barney, formed LPL in 1989 through the merger of Linsco Financial Group and Private Ledger Financial Services Inc. In 2005, he sold a 61% stake in the company to two private equity firms. After LPL was created, Robinson turned the reins over to Mark Casady, the company's current CEO.
