The Top Regional RIAs: Four hot spots?
San Francisco consistently turns up as one of the most desirable places to live in the U.S., but the reason the city is so attractive to financial advisers has nothing to do with the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars and its many other quirky charms.
Adviser Kelly Trevethan calls the attraction “the Facebook effect.”
When a successful company such as the social-networking pioneer creates a stream of multimillionaires, it directly and indirectly adds to the Bay Area's wealth and provides a steady source of clients for the region's advisory community.
“Companies like Facebook, Google [Inc.] and Oracle [Corp.] have created enormous wealth, and that creates a tremendous client base,” said Mr. Trevethan, an adviser with United Capital Financial Advisers LLC in its San Francisco office. (Click here for the full regional RIA rundown of San Francisco.)
