‘Tremendously sad milestone’: Women leaders lament RBG
1. Andina Anderson, Executive Managing Director, Envestnet Tamarac
The passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a tremendously sad milestone in the ongoing battle for social, financial, and judicial equality. Like so many other influential women, she had to maintain a delicate balance of poise and unyielding determination in the face of opposition and bigotry.
As a woman also working in a male-dominated industry, I was in awe of her ability to overcome adversity during her lifetime, and understand the importance of including women and other underrepresented populations in the wealth management space — not just as employees and executives, but also as clients, who can then take the lead in their own financial decision-making.
Justice Ginsburg was a pioneer who successfully challenged unjust sex-based policies which affected women personally, professionally, and financially. Her legacy will live on both through the policies she helped to shape and the countless people she inspired. We should all make it our ongoing mission to advance the work RBG started to keep her accomplishments and memory alive.
