Adoption of tablet computers among financial professionals has topped 40% according to a recent survey conducted by account aggregation provider ByAllAccounts.
They do a lot of surveys on the side, usually fairly small but also usually interesting.
I was intrigued with results from this latest one yesterday that they called their Q2 2011 Gadget survey in which they received responses from 250 advisers (approximately 44% were registered investment advisers, 11% were with a full service broker dealer or wirehouse and 14% were affiliated with an independent broker-dealer).
Among the other interesting findings:

59.3% use the iPad in client meetings
48.9% say the iPad helps them be more responsive to clients
65% report using their iPad for personal and business use
81% report using all their gadgets for personal and business use
Nearly 90% also report owning a laptop

And specifically among the RIA respondents (number 107, not sure why they specifically parsed them out) 44% own an iPad and 44% own an iPhone (followed by 21.5% owning a Blackberry and 20.5% owning a Google Android-based phone — sorry Microsoft, sorry Nokia, sorry Palm).
This is not that surprising I guess, given that most advisers I come across using account aggregation are also pretty tech-savy; still, a pretty impressive adoption rate for Apple among advisers no matter how you slice it.
There is quite a bit more on application use and the like, it is worth a read if you are interested.
