Blackrock co-founder to head up Evercore

Ralph Schlosstein, the co-founder and former president of financial-services firm BlackRock, has taken on the chief executive position at Evercore Partners Inc.

Boutique investment banking firm Evercore Partners Inc. said Friday that Ralph Schlosstein has joined the Manhattan-based firm as president and chief executive, effective immediately.

Mr. Schlosstein previously was president and co-founder of financial services firm BlackRock, which is also headquartered in New York City.

Evercore said Mr. Schlosstein will work with Chairman Roger Altman and the firm’s other partners to expand the company’s core advisory business and further globalize and diversify its overall business.

Mr. Schlosstein has become a partner in Evercore and purchased $15 million of the company’s stock.
