Webwatch: Strong Capital Lines Up Its Ducks

Investment News

At Strong Capital Management Inc., telewebbing does not refer to garrulous ducks

Instead, it’s a new interactive Internet service that lets the Menomonee Falls, Wis., firm’s customer service representatives call up the very screen an investor is looking at while visiting the Strong Web site. The two can communicate electronically or via telephone.

Putnam Investments in Boston recently took similar steps to make it easier to communicate with brokers.

At Strong, investors will get their Web questions — “How do I use this Roth IRA calculator?” — answered immediately. “That information can get overwhelming and people may want to talk to someone as they walk through it,” says Peter Schwab, director of shareholder services. No relation to Charles.
