A-list execs flock to Schwarzman soiree

Stephen Schwarzman, chief executive of Blackstone Group LP, rented out the Park Avenue Armory in New York for 500 guests last night to celebrate his 60th birthday --just days after scoring the world’s biggest buyout deal, according to published reports.

Stephen Schwarzman, chief executive of Blackstone Group LP, rented out the Park Avenue Armory in New York for a $3 million party last night to celebrate his 60th birthday — just days after scoring the world’s biggest buyout deal, according to published reports.
Mr. Schwarzman won the bidding contest against Vornado Realty Trust for Equity Office Properties Trust and will pay $39 billion for the company.
Five hundred people attended the party, which featured a performance by Rod Stewart, the New York Post reported.
Some financial-industry bigfoots in attendance included Lloyd Blankfein, chairman and chief executive of Goldman Sachs; James Cayne, chief executive and chairman of Bear Stearns; Stan O’Neal, chairman and chief executive of Merrill Lynch; and Jamie Dimon, chairman and chief executive of JPMorgan Chase, the Post reported.
Recent news target Maria Bartiromo, a CNBC host, and Charlie Rose of PBS also attended, as did Barry Diller, chairman and chief executive of IAC; mogul Donald Trump and New York Stock Exchange chief John Thain.
The space was decorated to resemble the living room of the $40 million Park Avenue Schwarzman family home.
