Edelman Financial Engines acquires tax-oriented firm

Viridian Advisors, an $846 million RIA, will bring CPAs and tax expertise to Edelman.

Edelman Financial Engines has acquired Viridian Advisors, a Bothell, Washington-based registered investment adviser that manages $846 million and includes tax planning and preparation among its services.

The transaction, details of which were not disclosed, is expected to close in the second quarter.

Adriel Tam, who heads Viridian and its team of CPAs and planners, will join Edelman as head of its tax practice.
