Americans who send a tax refund to the government can designate it for federal debt reduction under the Debt Elimination by Tax-Deductible Contribution Act, HR 2214, a bill introduced by Rep. Steve Stivers, R-Ohio. Mr. Stivers is among the 87 House Republican freshmen who are forcing their party — and the entire chamber — to concentrate on righting fiscal imbalances. The bill has been referred to the House Ways and Means Committee.
