InvestmentNews has hired Crain’s New York Business veteran Frederick Gabriel as its Boston reporter.

Mr. Gabriel, 33, covers law firms and estate-planning and New England-based financial advisers and money managers, including Fidelity Investments and Putnam Investments. He replaces Thomas Grillo, now a correspondent for the Boston Globe.

Mr. Gabriel previously reported for InvestmentNews sister publication Crain’s New York Business, covering such beats as commercial banking, law, tourism and restaurants.

The Massachusetts native attended graduate school at New York University and earned a bachelor of science degree from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
