Janus Capital elects three to board
Timothy K. Armour, Jeffrey J. Diermeier, and Lawrence E. Kochard, expand the board to 14 directors, 12 of whom are independent.
Janus Capital Group Inc. announced the election of three investment management executives to its board of directors.
The new members: Timothy K. Armour, Jeffrey J. Diermeier, and Lawrence E. Kochard, expand the board to 14 directors, 12 who are independent.
Mr. Armour recently retired from Morningstar Inc., a Chicago-based fund research firm, where he served as managing director from 2000 to 2008.
Prior to that, he served as Morningstar’s president from 1999 to 2000 and as its chief operating officer from 1998 to 1999.
Before his tenure at Morningstar, he was president of the Chicago-based Stein Roe & Farnham Inc.’s mutual funds division.
Since 2005, Mr. Diermeier has served as president and chief executive of the CFA Institute, a Charlottesville, Va.-based association of investment professionals.
Prior to that he spent 29 years at UBS Global Asset Management Inc. of New York, eventually becoming the firm’s global chief investment officer.
Mr. Kochard has served as the chief investment officer at Georgetown University since 2004.
He is also a lecturer at the university’s McDonough School of Business. Prior to coming to Georgetown, he was managing director of equity and hedge fund investments for the Virginia Retirement System.
He also taught at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce and Department of Economics.
The Denver-based Janus managed $206.7 billion in assets as of Dec. 31, 2007.
