Janus manager leaves, replacement named

Portfolio manager Minyoung Sohn has left the firm and will be replaced by Janus veteran Marc Pinto.

Janus Capital Group Inc. of Denver, Co. announced this week that portfolio manager Minyoung Sohn has left the firm.
Mr. Sohn managed the Janus Growth and Income Fund and the Janus Fundamental Equity Fund.
Marc Pinto, who has been with Janus for 13 years, will take over as manager of the Growth and Income Fund.
He will also remain co-manager of the Janus Balanced Fund.
The Fundamental Equity Fund will be managed by director of research Jim Goff and the research team which leads the Janus Global Research Fund.
Mr. Sohn is the 14th fund manager to leave since 2006, confirmed Janus spokesman James Aber.
The company has also asked the trustees of Janus Funds to approve the merger of Janus Fundamental Equity Fund into Janus Research.
If approved, the next step would be to seek approval from the shareholders of each fund. “If approved, it would be the first part of 2008 before we would be able to complete that process,” Mr. Aber said.
Janus Fund manager David Corkins announced in October that he was leaving the company.
Janus Capital Group had $208 billion in assets under management on September 30, 2007.
