Jefferies hires equity capital chief

Jefferies & Company has hired Charles E. Mather as a managing director in the firm’s Equity Capital Markets group.
Mr. Mather will be responsible for leading the origination and execution of equity private placements and PIPE transactions and investment banking.
Prior to joining Jefferies, Mr. Mather was a managing director and head of the Private Equity Group at New York-based Cowen & Co., where he worked for ten years.
Previously, he was group head of New York-based Smith Barney’s Private Equity Placement Group.
Mr. Mather will be based in the investment bank’s New York headquarters office.
