MFS names new CFO and vice president

MFS Investment Management Inc. of Boston today appointed Amrit Kanwal as executive vice president and chief financial officer.

MFS Investment Management Inc. of Boston today appointed Amrit Kanwal as executive vice president and chief financial officer.

He replaces the late Paul Kirwan, who died unexpectedly last December.

Most recently, Mr. Kanwal worked at Putnam Investments of Boston through the first quarter of 2008.

At Putnam, he was a senior managing director and chief financial officer from 2004 through 2008.

Prior to that, Mr. Kanwal held several senior positions in his nine years at Putnam.

He will report to Robert Manning, president and chief executive at MFS.

Mr. Kanwal starts the new position April 20.

MFS managed $134 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
