Spencer Trask, a New York private equity investment firm, has named Eric B. Kim president and chief executive of its software group and Norman R. Proulx managing director of Spencer Trask Holdings Inc. Mr. Kim, 43, had been president and chief executive of Pilot Software, a Cambridge, Mass., subsidiary of the Dun & Bradstreet Corp. Mr. Proulx, 51, is responsible for developing a consumer products consolidation strategy geared toward major retailers. Most recently, he was managing director of the Cortec Group in New York.

In addition, A. Emerson Martin II, William H. Buchanan Jr. and Donald F. Farley were appointed to senior management positions. Mr. Martin, 48, senior managing director of corporate finance, previously headed the New York corporate finance department at First Albany. Mr. Buchanan, 60, managing director of corporate finance, most recently headed the worldwide legal department and served as corporate secretary at Dun & Bradstreet Corp. in Murray Hill, N.J. Mr. Farley, 55, heads the new specialty chemicals group. Previously, he was president of Pfizer Consumer Health Care in New York.

BankBoston has added Trond Rokholt and Richard Makin as managing directors. Both will focus on the energy sector. Mr. Rokholt, 41, most recently was managing director of ING Barings in New York. Mr. Makin, 36, was senior vice president of loan syndications, also of ING Barings.

American Industrial Properties REIT in Irving, Texas has promoted seven officers. Three vice presidents, Lewis Friedland, 38, Marc Simpson, 43, and David Warner, 39, have become senior vice presidents: Joe Akers, 39, Bob Baker, 35, Tom Cramer, 40, and Gary Williams, 39, have been promoted to vice president.

BB&T of Virginia in Virginia Beach has appointed Jesse W. “Rip” Howard, 51, president and Hampton Roads regional president. He replaces G. Robert Aston, 53, who has resigned. Mr. Howard had been president of the Southeast region since 1994.

BT Alex Brown International in New York has promoted Matthew Collins, 38, from head of its European leveraged finance group to managing director and head of European debt capital markets.

Conrad Capital Management Inc., a registered investment advisory in Huntington, N.Y., has named founder Donald E. Conrad, 44, president. He had been a senior vice president at PaineWebber in New York.

Copper Mountain Trust Corp. in Portland, Ore., has added Thomas H. McGirr, 49, to its private wealth team as account executive. He had been vice president of private client services with Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco.

E*Trade Group Inc. in Palo Alto, Calif., has announced three appointments. Judy Balint, 45, is executive vice president and president and chief operating officer of the new international division. She had been senior vice president of global marketing.

Jerry Gramaglia, 42, senior vice president of marketing, sales and communications, was previously vice president of marketing for the consumer division of Sprint Corp. in Kansas City, Mo.

Lisa Diaz Nash, 39, vice president of customer management, was most recently a vice president of international brand and product development at Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. in San Francisco.

Greenville Capital Management in Rockland, Del., has named Anthony J. Meyer, 29, director of marketing and client services. He had been marketing director of SEI Investments in Wayne, Pa.

Hambrecht & Quist, a full-service investment bank in San Francisco, has made two additions to its branded consumer practice in research: Harry A. Ikenson, 48,

formerly a senior director of Rodman & Renshaw in New York, will cover the retail business and Bonnie K. Tonneson, 30, formerly a senior associate at Dove Associates in Boston, will cover the food and beverage industry.

Independent Financial Marketing Group Inc. in Purchase, N.Y., has appointed Robert J. McKenna, 38, chief financial officer and a member of its executive team. Previously, he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer at EQ Financial Consultants Inc., a New York-based subsidiary of Equitable Companies Inc.

In addition, Keena Pettijohn and Guy Brazell, 36, were promoted to directors of the Eastern and Western regions of the retail bank division, respectively. Previously, Ms. Pettijohn served as production manager of the CoreStates Bank program and Mr. Brazell as a senior production chief.

Legg Mason Wood Walker Inc. has named Eric S. Williams, 40, first vice president and director of investment strategy. Most recently, he was a director of equity products at TradeStreet Investment Associates in Charlotte, N.C., a subsidiary of NationsBank Corp.

Mutual of Omaha Cos. in Omaha, Neb., has elected three new directors, bringing the total to 11. They are Carol B. Hallett, 60, president and chief executive of the Air Transport Association; Jeffrey M. Heller, 58, president and chief operating officer of Electronic Data Systems; and Tom Osborne, 61,

former head coach of the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers football team.

LimiTrader Securities Inc. in Princeton, N.J., has appointed Robert Stoner, 37, vice president and director of sales. Previously, he was vice president of sales at Inter-Vest Securities Inc. in Berwyn, Pa.

Individual Investor Group Inc. in New York has hired Michael G. Valentin, 33, as director of Internet technology for Individual Investor Online. He had been director of new media operations of Time Inc. in New York.

Price Waterhouse LLP in New York has named Thomas Glanfield,

48, as co-leader of its asset securitization practice. Previously a managing director, he replaces Shahid Quraishi, 30, who resigned last month to join NationsBank in Charlotte, N.C.

Dain Rauscher Inc. in Minneapolis has named Michael R. Kavanagh, 40, senior vice president and director of strategic planning and corporate

development.
