Wilshire Asset Management of Santa Monica, Calif., has hired three vice presidents for the mutual fund, high-net-worth and marketing-and-operations areas: Pat Carolan and Ron Florance, both 36, and Sean O’Brien, 39. Mr. Carolan, as director of mutual funds, will oversee the Wilshire Target Funds and establish new distribution channels. He had been a senior account manager in national sales with GT Global Group of Funds in San Francisco. Mr. Florance, a former senior portfolio manager with Wells Fargo Private Banking in San Francisco, will deal with wealth management strategy and Mr. O’Brien will aid sales at Wilshire Asset Management, a division of Wilshire Associates Inc. He had been an investment manager for the San Francisco-based California State Automobile Association.

KeyBank, the lead banking subsidiary of Cleveland’s KeyCorp, has promoted Daniel E. Klimas, 39, to vice chairman and head of Key PrivateBank. Mr. Klimas, 39, is assuming the duties of Yank Heisler, 49, who is helping to form Key Capital Partners. The new unit is to encompass the investment management, capital market, brokerage and insurance areas. Mr. Klimas previously served as executive vice president of the private banking and investing group.

Van Kampen American Capital of Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., has appointed Jack Zimmermann, 40, president of its sales arm, Van Kampen American Capital Distributors Inc. He succeeds William R. Molinari, who left the company. Mr. Zimmermann had been senior vice president and national sales manager of the broker-dealer division.

Putnam Investments of Boston has named Daniel M. Kilcullen, 45, managing director, chief of defined-contribution sales. He had headed the combined master trust and custody businesses of Mellon Bank Corp. in Pittsburgh and its Boston Co. subsidiary.

Aetna Retirement Services of Hartford, Conn., has named Michael J. Brandone, 39, managing director of financial planning for the Southwest region. Mr. Brandone, who will head the retirement unit’s new Los Angeles office,
had been East Coast regional director for financial planning. The parent Aetna Life Insurance and Annuity Co. has appointed Allan Baker, 45, vice president and head of marketing. He had been senior vice president and director of special markets for Delaware Management Group Inc. of Philadelphia, a division of Lincoln National Corp.

Smith Barney Consulting Group of Wilmington, Del., has appointed Sanjiv Bhatia, 40, chairman of its asset allocation committee. Mr. Bhatia, who holds a doctorate in finance, was formerly with the Association of Investment Management Research in Charlottesville, Va. He succeeds Sandip Bhagat, 37, who has completed his two-year term as chairman but will remain a member of the nine-person committee.

Metropolitan West Financial Corp. of Los Angeles has appointed James R. Henderson, 35, as a principal and senior vice president of its equity division, MetWest Capital. He will be based in the new Newport Beach office. A certified financial analyst, he was an owner of the Glendale, Calif.-based investment advisory firm Van Deventer & Hock for 11 years.

Eclipse Capital Management Inc. of St. Louis has named James R. Klingler, 36, senior vice president and corporate secretary. He formerly was associate vice president and compliance counsel for A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc., also of St. Louis. Eric S. Goodbar, 38, has joined Eclipse as director of research and development. He was formerly executive vice president of fund management and research for New Century Investment Research and Management Inc. in Chicago.

Provident Investment Counsel of Pasadena, Calif., has hired Evelyn Lapham as a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager on the company’s new mid-cap fund. Ms. Lapham, 42, had managed a $350 million growth stock portfolio at Los Angeles-based Hughes Investment Management, the investment management subsidiary of GM Hughes.

Colonial Group Inc. of Boston has promoted Mary Dillon McKenzie, 44, as president of its investors service center. She had been a vice president in the cl
ient services group. The company also hired Keith Piken and Douglas Claiborne as vice presidents. Mr. Piken, 25, heads alliance marketing in Colonial’s distribution company, Liberty Financial Investments Inc. He had been investment product manager for Select Portfolios at Fidelity Investments in Boston. Mr. Claiborne, 39, joins Colonial as Northern Illinois regional vice president for broker-dealer distribution. He had been a regional vice president for Sierra Trust Funds of Northridge, Calif.
