Pacific Life Insurance Co. in Newport Beach, Calif., has appointed Mike Curry, 51, Eastern regional sales manager of annuities. He comes from Keyport Life Insurance in Boston, where he was a regional vice president.

Chicago Asset Management has named Douglas R. Amacher, 33, senior vice president for marketing and client service. Mr. Amacher comes from United Asset Management Investment Services Inc. in Chicago.

Datek Online Holdings Corp. in Iselin, N.J., has promoted Edward J. Nicoll, 45, to chief operating officer. Most recently, he was president of the Datek Online Brokerage Services Corp. unit. That post will be filled by John Mullin, 38, who worked in a similar capacity for Waterhouse Securities in New York. In addition, Ralph Sorrentino, 55, has been named president of Datek Online Clearing Corp. He served as executive vice president of the holding company’s brokerage operation.

Grubb & Ellis Co. in Northbrook, Ill., has promoted Brian D. Parker, 47, to executive vice president. He has been with the company since 1996, and most recently served as chief financial officer.

Hewlett-Packard Co. in Palo Alto, Calif., has promoted Sherry Hirsch, 47, general manager of its North American financial services business unit. Ms. Hirsch was national sales manager for strategic accounts in financial services.

Greenwich Natwest in London has appointed Peter Bailey, 34, vice president and head of North American credit training. He was a managing director and global head of fixed-income syndication in London for Amsterdam-based Rabobank.

Rigel Capital Management in Seattle has appointed Linda K. Mauzy, 39, vice president and senior portfolio manager. Ms. Mauzy, a certified financial analyst, was vice president and portfolio manager at Parametric Portfolio Associates in Seattle.

Ashbridge Investment Management in Philadelphia has named Louise Wright Sellers, 36, senior vice president. She was vice president and senior portfolio manager in the personal trust and asset management department of Wilmington Trust Co. in Wilmington, Del.

Convergent Capital Management in Chicago has appointed Douglas D. Peabody, 35, managing director of marketing and distribution. Most recently he was senior account manager and principal of Eager Manager Advisory in Louisville, Ky.

Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada’s U.S. division in Wellesley Hills, Mass., has appointed Leila Kern, 57, assistant vice president and counsel. She had her own law practice specializing in litigation and mediation.

M.J. Whitman Inc. and Third Avenue Funds in New York has appointed Amit Wadhwaney, 44, senior analyst and portfolio manager of the M.J. Whitman Global Value Fund. He had been portfolio manager of the Carl Marks Global Value Fund LP and principal of Glenrock Asset Management Associates LP in New York.
