New England Investment Cos. LP of Boston has named John D. Jarrett Jr. vice president of the East Coast region. Mr. Jarrett, 32, comes from Boston-based UAM Investment Services Inc., where he was vice president for marketing in New England.

Aim Capital Management Inc. of Houston has appointed Paul J. Rasplicka a vice president and senior portfolio manager of its Capital Development Fund. Mr. Rasplicka, 41, comes from Denver-based Invesco Trust Co., where he had been responsible for portfolio management of small-capitalization growth separate accounts since 1994. Aim and Invesco are subsidiaries of Amvescap PLC of Atlanta.

Barrett Associates Inc., a New York-based private investment management firm, has named Leslie Lammers managing director. Ms. Lammers, 48, a former vice president and portfolio manager from New York’s Scudder Stevens & Clark, will be responsible for investment for high-net-worth clients.

Board of Trade Clearing Corp. of Chicago has promoted Michael Pontarelli, 48, to vice president of risk management. Mr. Pontarelli, who had been director of financial surveillance for the board for three years, replaces Del Heath, who retired.

New England Funds of Boston has hired Christopher Wilson, 40, as senior vice president and managing director of investor services, a new position in which he will manage the service center. Mr. Wilson comes from Scudder Stevens & Clark in New York, where he served most recently as principal and director of operations.

Strong Funds of Milwaukee has promoted Michael Reardon, 27, a client services manager, to Northeast regional marketing manager.

Securities Industry Association’s Economic Education Foundation, New York District, has added two trustees, bringing its total to 11. Elected were Catherine R. Kinney, 50, group executive vice president at the New York Stock Exchange, and Donald L. Clarke, 55, director of state government relations at Mobil Oil Corp. The foundation sponsors the Stock Market Game, which allows teams of New York and New Jersey h
igh school students to receive a hypothetical $100,000 each to invest for a 10-week period.

Colonial Management Associates Inc. of Boston has named Chris Libutti, 25, regional vice president of sales for southern Texas and Louisiana and William Ballou, 33, as vice president and counsel. Mr. Ballou had been an associate counsel at Massachusetts Financial Services Co. in Boston.

State Street Global Advisors of Boston has appointed Jeffrey P. Davis, 39, chief investment strategist of its trust and investments unit for international stocks. He is returning to State Street after spending 10 months as managing director at Boston-based Schooner Asset Management to succeed Brenton H. Dickson IV, 60, who retired.

Sigma Investment Management of Portland, Ore., has hired Curry Garvin, 40, as a portfolio manager. He had a similar position at Qualivest Capital Management Inc., also in Portland.

Ibbotson Associates of Chicago has elected Michael Henkel, 40, to replace founder Roger G. Ibbotson as president. Mr. Ibbotson, 54, will continue to serve as chairman. Mr. Henkel had been a managing director.

Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management of San Diego has hired Deborah Bowman as director of marketing-consultant relations, a new position. Ms. Bowman, 37, had been managing director for consultant relations at Ark Asset Management in New York.

ING Barings of New York has appointed Edmund A. Hajim co-chairman of its Americas region with Fernando Gentil. Mr. Hajim will continue as chairman and chief executive of Furman Selz, the New York investment bank acquired by ING Group last year.

Chancellor LGT Asset Management Inc. of New York has hired Ray Maxwell, 47, as a managing director for European private capital partnerships. He was previously director of Granville Private Equity Funds Ltd. of London, where he managed private stock portfolios. Marion Schultheis, 51, has been hired as a senior large-cap growth stock portfolio manager. She replaces Ann Hutchins, who joined HLM Management Co. in Boston. Ms. Schultheis had
been a senior portfolio manager and senior vice president in the equity advisory group of IDS Advisory Group Inc. in Minneapolis.

Penn Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Philadelphia has named Dale Martin, 39, regional director for the Twin Cities. He had been regional superintendent at Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Co. in St. Paul. Lawrence F. Kenney, 44, was named regional director for the new Washington-area office in Vienna, Va. He had been a regional vice president of sales for Crown Life Insurance of Alexandria, Va.
