The Hartford (Conn.) Financial Services Group Inc. has hired Stephan Schinnenburg, 48, as general manager of its branch in Frankfurt, Germany, where the company plans to begin selling variable annuities.

He will aid in building the infrastructure of Hartford’s new German business, creating products, administration, service, sales and marketing, and support systems.

Previously, Mr. Schinnenburg was head of sales and marketing for Ideal Lebensversicherung AG, a Berlin-based firm that focuses on insurance products for those older than 50.

NewOak Capital of New York has hired Vincent J. Truglia, 57, as managing director of global economic research.

Previously, he was managing partner of WHAnalysis.com in New York, as well as managing director of the sovereign-risk unit at Moody’s Investors Service Inc., also of New York.

Summit Brokerage Services Inc. of Boca Raton, Fla., has hired Dennis Kaminski, 60, as executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

Previously, he served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer at Mutual Service Corp. of West Palm Beach, Fla.

Capital Analysts Inc. of Cincinnati has hired Jeffrey Riesenberger, 42, as vice president and senior financial officer.

He will be responsible for the regulatory-reporting, financial planning and budget management functions of the firm.

Previously, Mr. Riesenberger served as senior director of finance for Boston-based Fidelity Investments.

Market Street Advisors LLC of Edison, N.J., has hired Phillip Kinney, 23, as a health insurance specialist, providing insurance support services and developing new business among client groups.

Previously, he was a broker at Insuranti, an independent health and life insurance agency based in Raleigh, N.C.

Global Capital Management Inc., a boutique investment management firm in Conshohocken, Pa., has hired Gary Schlarbaum, 65, as a portfolio manager and director of portfolio risk management.

Previously, he was the founder and chief investment officer at Schlarbaum Capital Management in Bala Cynwyd, Pa.

The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Co., a mutual life insurance company based in Horsham, Pa., has hired Jonathan J. Pratt, 45, as vice president of the career agency system.

He has 24 years’ experience in the industry and most recently served as the vice president of North American field force development for Foresters Financial Partners Inc. of Santa Clarita, Calif. There, Mr. Pratt was responsible for the development and implementation of all recruiting, selection, education and training that supported distribution.

Dan Goldie Financial Services of Menlo Park, Calif., recently welcomed Dirk Gilliard, 42, as a partner.

He will manage the new Marin County office.

Previously, Mr. Gilliard served as a principal at Private Capital Management, a wealth management firm based in Naples, Fla.

Curian Capital LLC of Denver has hired Kevin Ramsier, 37, as divisional vice president for the West region.

This is a new position created to expand Curian’s distribution team.

Mr. Ramsier will supervise a team of Curian’s regional business consultants and manage company distribution efforts.

He spent 12 years at Invesco Aim Investment Services Inc. of Houston before joining Curian. In his most recent position as regional sales manager, Mr. Ramsier oversaw 14 vice presidents and their staff members.

Rockefeller & Co. Inc. of New York has hired Felicia Yieh, 48, as senior vice president.

In this new role, she will focus on new business development opportunities with high-net-worth individuals, families, foundations and endowments.

Previously, Ms. Yieh was a senior vice president and wealth management strategist in New York for global wealth management firm Genspring Family Offices of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Stephens Inc., a full-service investment-banking and brokerage firm in Little Rock, Ark., has hired Jennifer Herber, 37, as a managing director in corporate finance.

Working as a senior banker, she will be responsible for originating underwriting and mergers and acquisitions advisory business in the specialty-retail and consumer sectors.

Previously, Ms. Herber served as an executive director in the consumer/retail group at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York, where she was a coverage partner for 15 to 20 Fortune 100 consumer and retail clients.

FundQuest Inc. of Boston has hired Matthew Whitbread, 32, as a senior financial analyst on its investment management team.

He is also a member of FundQuest’s investment committee.

Mr. Whitbread will focus on mutual funds, exchange traded funds, offshore funds and alternative investments.

Previously, he worked as a senior portfolio analyst at Boston-based Pyramis Global Advisors.

The Independent Community Bankers of America in Washington has hired Aleis Stokes, 27, as director of public relations.

Previously, she worked for the Mortgage Bankers Association in Washington, where she led media relations and public affairs efforts, as well as served as the media contact for the Washington-based Hope Now Alliance.

The Open Finance Network of Charlotte, N.C., has hired Michael Brady, 47, as chief information officer.

He will oversee all aspects of technology at the network.

Previously, Mr. Brady held the same position at LendingTree LLC, which is also based in Charlotte.

Penson Worldwide Inc. of Dallas, a provider of execution, clearing, settlement, custody, and technology products and services, has promoted both Dan Weingarten, 32, and Sean Malloy, 42, to senior vice president and co-director of global sales and marketing.

Both joined Penson Financial Services Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Penson Worldwide, in July 2007 as senior vice presidents of U.S. sales and marketing.

Mr. Weingarten and Mr. Malloy will continue to direct the U.S. sales team and assume further responsibilities for developing and carrying out Penson Worldwide’s global sales and marketing strategy.
