The Securities and Exchange Commission has hired Gregg Berman, 42, as senior policy adviser at its Division of Risk, Strategy and Financial Innovation.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has hired Gregg Berman, 42, as senior policy adviser at its Division of Risk, Strategy and Financial Innovation.

He is responsible for monitoring data-driven analyses, markets and regulations.

Previously, Mr. Berman was head of the global risk business for RiskMetrics Group’s New York office, where he was responsible for risk management systems, data and services offered to all institutional clients.

ING North America Insurance Corp. of West Chester, Pa., has hired Lynne Ford, 48, as chief executive of ING Financial Solutions, the company’s annuity and rollover business.

She will be based in New York and will oversee the group that manufactures retirement-income-focused financial products for distribution as well as capturing rollovers. Ms. Ford also will develop enterprise strategies for such products.

Previously, she was executive vice president and managing director of the retail-retirement group in Charlotte, N.C., at Wells Fargo & Co. of San Francisco. There, Ms. Ford was responsible for products distribution, sales, marketing, operations, servicing and enterprise strategy for retail retirement.

Russell Investment Group, a Tacoma, Wash.-based subsidiary of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Milwaukee, has hired Andy Arenberg, Greg Friedman and James Polisson as managing directors.

Mr. Arenberg, 48, is responsible for the global distribution of Russell’s exchange-traded funds.

Previously, he was managing director at Barclays Global Investors of San Francisco, where he was responsible for leading the marketing efforts for iShares in the Asia-Pacific, Latin American and North American regions. In addition, Mr. Arenberg was responsible for BGI’s global-institution marketing efforts.

Mr. Friedman, 40, is responsible for implementing, developing and providing continuing management of the ETF product series as head of global ETF products.

Previously, he served for 15 years in key roles in BGI’s global iShares business, most recently as the head of global iShares strategic-partner relationships.

Mr. Polisson, 50, is responsible for Russell’s global ETF business, where he will focus on next-generation ETFs.

Previously, he was the chief marketing officer at BGI, where he led the global marketing and brand activities for BGI’s iShares business.

All the executives will continue to be based in San Francisco.

The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association has named Timothy W. Cameron, 53, managing director and principal staff adviser to its asset management group in New York.

His responsibilities include developing and managing policy perspectives on issues that affect SIFMA group members.

Previously, Mr. Cameron was president and chief executive at DWS Trust Co., a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank Americas Holding Corp. of Boston.

Separately, SIFMA has hired James McHale, 43, as managing director and associate general counsel in Washington.

He will focus on regulatory advocacy and will be the staff adviser to SIFMA’s self-regulatory and supervisory-practices committee.

Previously, Mr. McHale was senior director and associate general counsel for E*Trade Brokerage Services Inc. in Menlo Park, Calif., where he provided legal and regulatory counseling and advice to domestic broker-dealer affiliates.

Evermay Wealth Management in Washington has hired John A. Edwards, 49, as senior portfolio manager.

He is responsible for working with financial advisers to add consistency to their U.S core client equity portfolios.

Previously, Mr. Edwards was a senior portfolio manager at Chevy Chase Trust of Bethesda, Md.

MFC Global Investment Management, the asset management division of Manulife Financial Corp. of Toronto, has hired Bradford G. Thomas, 42, as director of consultant relations in Boston.

He is responsible for supporting the management of the firm’s relationships with investment consultants in North America.

Previously, Mr. Thomas was manager of U.S. consultant relations and sales at Batterymarch Financial Management Inc. in Boston, where his responsibilities included developing consultant relationships in major North American cities.


John Hancock Retirement Plan Services of Boston has promoted Robert Stanley, 42, to senior vice president of sales development.

He is responsible for managing the teams that support the company’s sales and distribution group, including those that handle training and education, business intelligence, meeting management, sales team compensation, broker-dealer contracts and competitive intelligence.

Previously, Mr. Stanley was vice president of operations at John Hancock RPS Operations in Toronto. There, he was responsible for developing and implementing a number of technology and process initiatives in retirement plan services.
