Commonfund Group of Wilton, Conn., has hired Frederic Nelson, 54, as chief investment officer and chief executive of its Commonfund Asset Management Co. unit

Commonfund Group of Wilton, Conn., has hired Frederic Nelson, 54, as chief investment officer and chief executive of its Commonfund Asset Management Co. unit.

He is responsible for the oversight of the company’s equity and fixed-income programs, and its $11 billion outsourced-solutions business. Mr. Nelson also serves as chairman of the Commonfund Investment Policy and Asset Allocation Committee.

Previously, he was vice chairman and chief investment officer of ING Investment Management Americas of New York. There, Mr. Nelson was responsible for more than 300 staff members who managed more than $165 billion, as well as the management of client and proprietary capital in the traditional, private-equity and hedge fund asset classes.

He also organized the ING multiasset strategy and solutions group.

Financial Services Institute Inc. of Atlanta has hired Keith J. Kelly, 41, as executive vice president and chief operating officer.

He is responsible for driving the FSI’s growth, membership renewal and expansion of new revenue prospects.

Previously, Mr. Kelly was president of investor services at Mutual of Omaha (Neb.) Insurance Co.

Schroder Investment Management Ltd. of London has hired Michael Radin, 48, as head of multiasset solutions in the Americas.

He is based in New York and is responsible for working with Schroder’s sales and consultant teams to accelerate the expansion of the company’s business in the region. Mr. Radin is also a primary contact for external business development and serving existing-client activities.

Previously, he was New York-based head of pension and portfolio solutions, and global head of the specialist team for quantitative-strategies products in the asset management division of Deutsche Bank AG of Frankfurt, Germany.

Asset Dedication LLC of Mill Valley, Calif., has hired Scott Emblen, 42, as liaison to financial advisers.

He is based in Portland, Ore., and is part of the company’s adviser solutions team. Mr. Emblen is responsible for representing asset dedication to fee-only, hourly financial planners as well as investor clients.

Previously, he was director of sales of unified managed accounts at Parametric Portfolio Associates LLC of Seattle.

Hefty Wealth Partners Inc. of Auburn, Ind., has hired Mark O. VandeVelde, 32, as a wealth partner.

He is responsible for providing investment advising and fiduciary services for the wealth management firm’s advisory accounts.

Previously, Mr. VandeVelde was a financial adviser and member of the investment team in Fort Wayne, Ind., for JPMorgan Chase & Co. of New York.

Tributary Capital Management LLC of Omaha, Neb., has promoted Mark Wynegar, 40, to managing director.

He has direct oversight of Tributary’s trading and operations as he continues his role of co-managing the firm’s Small Cap Value Strategy and Tributary small-company funds.

Dresner Partners of Chicago has hired Omar Diaz, 42, as a managing director.

He focuses on middle-market transactions within the industrial and chemical industries.

Previously, Mr. Diaz was a managing director in the Chicago office for Allegiance Capital Corp. of Dallas, where he focused on industrials and chemicals.

ClearBridge Advisors LLC of New York has named Terrence Murphy, 42, president.

He retains his role as chief operating officer and will continue to serve as part of the company’s management committee and as chairman of its risk committee.

Previously, Mr. Murphy was interim chief financial officer at Legg Mason Inc. of Baltimore, the parent of ClearBridge Advisors.

Morgan Keegan & Co. Inc. of Memphis, Tenn., has hired Rusty Clark, 45, as a managing director.

Based in Covington, Ky., he oversees the brokerage and investment company’s private-client-group expansion throughout Ohio. Mr. Clark is scouting for financial adviser talent and staffing the primary Ohio office in Dayton.

Previously, he was a complex manager for the Columbus and Toledo, Ohio, offices of New York-based Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC, overseeing seven locations and 135 advisers.

Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. of Milwaukee has hired Richard Crawford, 61, as senior vice president; Daniel Holzrichter, 48, as senior vice president; Jay Morrison, 38, as vice president; and Gwen Berkenpas, 36, as a registered client relationship associate in its new wealth management office in Sioux City, Iowa.

Mr. Crawford, Mr. Holzrichter and Mr. Morrison work as a financial adviser team, providing financial solutions for high-net-worth clients.

Ms. Berkenpas is the primary support for their adviser team, The Crawford Holzrichter & Morrison Group.

Previously, Mr. Crawford, Mr. Holzrichter and Mr. Morrison were financial advisers, and Ms. Berkenpas a registered associate, in Sioux City for New York-based Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC.

Orion Advisor Services LLC of Omaha, Neb., has named Todd Bertucci, 32, and Joel Hurst, 34, vice presidents of business development.

Both are responsible for the distribution, sales strategizing, marketing and relationship development of new clients and partnerships for the Orion portfolio accounting service. 

Previously, Mr. Bertucci was director of sales for Summit Capital Partners LLC of Sioux Falls, S.D., where he focused on developing the independent-broker-dealer distribution channel at the Omaha branch office.

Mr. Hurst was an institutional sales manager at Orion, working with investment advisers to maintain best-practice services.

Lincoln Financial Group of Radnor, Pa., has hired Anand Rao, 37, as vice president of digital strategy and user experience.

He leads the digital-strategy and design teams to develop and enhance usability and user involvement for the defined-contribution, annuity and group protection website applications. Lincoln Financial is the marketing name for Lincoln National Corp.

Previously, Mr. Rao was a principal at Diamond Management & Technology Consultants Inc. of Chicago, a division of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. There, he worked in tandem with life, retirement and property-and-casualty companies to improve user experience and organization for business operations.

Frontier Asset Management LLC of Sheridan, Wyo., has hired Heidi Meyer, 46, as director of advisor services.

Based in Denver, she will provide support and service to financial advisers, manage key relationships with the firm and contribute to business development.

Previously, Ms. Meyer was vice president of advisory services for QA3 Financial LLC of Omaha, Neb.

KBS Capital Markets Group, an affiliate of KBS Capital Advisors and KBS Realty Advisors, has hired Andrew C. Schenk, 45, as lower Midwest regional vice president.

Based in St. Louis, he is responsible for developing and managing broker-dealer and registered investment adviser relationships on behalf of KBS Capital Markets Group for KBS Real Estate Investment Trusts.

Previously, Mr. Schenk was regional marketing director in St. Louis for Lincoln Financial Distributors Inc. of Philadelphia. There, he managed the Eastern Missouri-Southern Illinois territory for Lincoln Financial’s independent and Edward Jones channels, focusing on the sale of the American Legacy variable annuity.
