The mission of InvestmentNews Research is to provide financial advisers with the industry’s most informative practice management studies and benchmarking reports.

Our benchmarking studies are a leading source of market intelligence for advisory firms and industry partners, such as custodians, broker-dealers, service providers and professional organizations.

In 2009, InvestmentNews acquired two bellwether benchmarking studies from Moss Adams LLP — the Adviser Compensation & Staffing Study and the Financial Performance Study of Advisory Firms. We continue to improve and expand these two critical industry studies, while we have also introduced new studies on technology and succession planning that support the growth and development of financial advisory firms.

Specifically, InvestmentNews Research now offers research studies on the subjects of:

Advisory firm financial performance: The 2012 study evaluates key financial metrics and how top-performing advisory firms are able to achieve outstanding financial performance.

Succession planning: How are advisory firms preparing for succession? The 2012 InvestmentNews Succession Planning Study examines how firms are successfully transitioning ownership.

Compensation & Staffing: Hundreds of advisory firms took part in the 2011 InvestmentNews/Moss Adams Adviser Compensation and Staffing benchmark study, which found that a select group of advisory firms were financially successful because they excelled at effectively managing their human capital.

Technology: The 2011 InvestmentNews RIA Technology Study features how technology can help support growth; factors to consider when investing in technology; the benefits of outsourced solutions versus managing functions in-house; integration and what it really means for an advisory firm; and over 30 charts, business and peer profiles by size of firm and type of firm.

Events: In addition to our research studies, we also produce regular webcasts and regional workshops that arm advisers with actionable insights. Our events allow advisers to hear directly from some of the industry’s leading experts – and also network with other advisers who are looking to improve their practices and grow their businesses.

Custom research: One of the core capabilities of InvestmentNews Research is providing custodians, broker-dealers and RIAs with custom benchmarking reports and white papers that leverage our deep data and analytical expertise.
