Mr. Carroll, a 38-year veteran of the bank and its predecessors, will remain with the company through July to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr. Weiss joined Wachovia, a Wells Fargo predecessor, in 2005 from J.P. Morgan, where he served as chief executive of Chase Manhattan Asia Ltd. and led investment banking for Asia Pacific. At Wells Fargo, he served as co-head of the bank’s investment banking and capital markets group before being appointed to his current role in 2014.
