The White House last month said employers should be required to provide workers with the option to enroll in direct-deposit individual retirement accounts if no retirement plan is already offered. The plan, unveiled at a meeting of the administration’s Middle Class Task Force, is one of many initiatives that the White House plans to pursue to ease the tax burden on middle-class Americans. Among the other recommendations: Imposing caps on student loan repayment amounts and doubling the child-care tax credit for families with annual incomes under $85,000.
