Abacus to smart phone and all the computers in between
For all of us stuck working this week I thought a virtual vacation destination might be in order.

It is not the beach (though it is near the beach) but the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, Calif. has a topical online exhibit they launched recently called Revolution Online.
The exhibit is powered by cloud computing and meant to reach a global audience that can pay a visit anytime, from anywhere on the Internet by way of their desktop, smart phone or tablet.
There are 19 galleries of computing history to explore, which mirrors the museum’s contemporary, if more conventional physical exhibition: “Revolution: The First 2000 Years of Computing,” which opened earlier this year.
The real exhibit fills 25,000 square feet and covers computing history from the abacus to the smart phone.
In addition to the many photographs, all of which can be zoomed in on, there is video and an interactive timeline.
Again, visit the Computer History Museum Revolution Online exhibit, well, online.
