CFP board names Emil Mara CFO

Mr. Mara was most recently the controller for the American Petroleum Institute in Washington.

The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. has named Emil S. Mara as its chief financial officer.
A certified public accountant, Mr. Mara has spent 20 years in the financial industry and was most recently the controller for the American Petroleum Institute in Washington, where he oversaw financial operations.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Mara was a senior auditor at Arthur Andersen & Co. in Washington and served in similar positions at various companies, including Deltek Systems and the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association.
The CFP Board is in the process of moving its operations to the nation’s capital from its current location in Denver to Washington in an effort to increase its lobbying capabilities (InvestmentNews, April 23) .
Earlier this month, the CFP board named Michael P. Shaw to the newly created position of managing director, Public Policy & Legal (InvestmentNews, August 2) .
The CFP Board also adopted a revised version of its Standards of Professional Conduct in May (InvestmentNews, May 31) .
CFP Board currently authorizes more than 55,000 designees to use these marks in the U.S.
