Professional read: “Pour Your Heart Into It” (1997) by Howard Schultz
Description: I read this book early in my career and still have a copy on my bookshelf. It is a great lesson in the importance of building a company culture that is contagious for both your employees and customers and how that will translate culture into life-long advocates for your business.
Leisure read: “The Hunt for Red October” (1984) by Tom Clancy
Description: It was Tom Clancy’s debut novel in 1984 and one of his best. It combined almost-futuristic technology at the time set against the backdrop and intrigue of the Cold War. Clancy was able to pull the reader into his stories in a way that defined what it meant for a novel to be a “page turner.”
