A shiny penny caught Kimberly Wilson’s eye and a series of children’s financial literacy picture books was born. A former mortgage lending marketing executive, Wilson was free-associating in an attempt to dream up ideas for picture books. A single penny gleamed out at her from its crowded environs in a glass jar on her kitchen counter. Now, “A Penny’s Worth” (2022, Page Street Kids) is in its third printing. In it, a penny, depressed at its rounding-error status, finds glory and self-worth as the coin of choice at a wishing well.
