Grading Byron Wien’s 2010 predictions
Prediction: 'The Federal Reserve decides the economy is strong enough for it to move away from a zero interest rate policy. In a series of successive hikes beginning in the second quarter the Federal funds rate reaches 2% by year-end.'
Grade: F — Bernanke & Co. haven't budged all year on rates. And given recent inflation data (excluding oil), it doesn't seem like inflation is much of a concern right now. Wait 'til next year.
