1. Movie club
An adviser in Northern California created a movie club, inviting two client families and asking each to invite another family. The club watches only documentaries, and the adviser ties each documentary to aspects of his firm’s offerings.
For example, after the first movie, “Inside Bill’s Brain,” about the philanthropic efforts of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the adviser offered the families some information on donating to charities, including a worksheet on philanthropic family giving.
