Working can temporarily decrease your benefits
Working after you start receiving retirement benefits may affect your monthly benefit amount if you’re younger than full retirement age and your earnings exceed certain dollar amounts. In 2022, you’ll lose $1 in benefits for every $2 you earn over $19,560. For more information on earnings restrictions, see www.socialsecurity.gov/planners/retire/whileworking.html.
