Internet Securities Inc., an Internet emerging markets news service in Boston, has appointed Walter Sing, 47, as chief information officer. He had been chief technology officer at Zitan Partners in New York City.

McGibbon Asset Management, a new fee-based advisory firm in Englewood, Colo., has appointed Brent McGibbon, 32, president. Mr. McGibbon formerly worked as a broker in Charles Schwab Corp.’s Englewood branch.

Equity Investment Group in Chicago has promoted Timothy F. Egan, 30, from manager of back office operations to vice president of operations overseeing the Illinois and New Jersey offices.

Compass Capital Management Inc. in Minneapolis has appointed Reid A. Kilberg, 28, director of sales and marketing. He had been an associate vice president of institutional sales at Investment Advisers Inc. in Minneapolis.

Ambac Assurance Corp. in New York has hired Scott D. Gordon, 42, as a managing director in its specialized finance division. He had been a managing director in the asset finance group at Financial Security Assurance Inc. in New York.

Focused Investments LLC in Chicago has appointed Jay L. Triemstra, 39, director of new business development. He served as regional sales director for Western National Life in Houston.

IBJ Whitehall Financial Group in New York has named Joseph E. Breslin, 46, senior vice president of the asset management group. He had been president of J.E. Breslin and Co. of New York.

NetWorth Advisors Inc., a new firm in McMurray, Pa., has named Brian T. Gongaware, 29, president and chief investment officer. He had been a vice president at Mellon Private Asset Management in Pittsburgh.

First Data Investor Services Group Inc. in Westborough, Mass., has promoted Elizabeth Lawrence, 35, to vice president of client services. She joined the company 11 years ago.

PanAgora Asset Management Inc. in Boston has hired Lawrence F. Pohlman, 45, as director of research from Independence Investment Associates in Boston, where he was senior vice president and director of fixed-income research.

Pentegra Group in White Plains, N.Y., has named Mick Petrulla, 32, senior manager, sales and marketing. Mr. Petrulla worked as a consultant for SunAmerica Retirement Markets, the marketing arm of SunAmerica Inc. in Los Angeles.

Flexible Plan Investments Ltd., an investment advisory firm in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., has promoted Renee Toth, 43, to vice president-fund relations from fund relations manager. She has been with the firm for eight years.

Washington Management Corp. in Washington, D.C., has appointed Jeffrey L. Steele, 54, to president of Washington Investment Advisors and executive vice president of the management subsidiary. He had been a law partner in Dechert Price & Rhoads, also in Washington.

First Mercantile Trust Co. in Memphis, Tenn., has appointed B. Scot Lenoir, 32, as president. He succeeds his father, Kenneth Lenoir, 55, who remains chairman and chief executive.

TD Waterhouse Group Inc. in New York has named Richard J. Rzasa, 39, executive vice president and chief information officer. He had been senior vice president of information technology at Lehman Brothers Holdings in New York.

Sterling Financial Group in Manhasset, N.Y., has named Michael J. Martino, 47, senior vice president of asset management. He had been senior vice president for housing programs and policy with the New York State Housing Finance Agency in New York City.

Turner Investment Partners Inc. in Berwyn, Pa., has promoted Cynthia J. Kinze, 42, to compliance officer from office manager of the Walnut Creek, Calif., office.

B.C. Ziegler & Co. in West Bend, Wis., has appointed Michael Patterson, 33, vice president of managed products. He had been a market systems software consultant at Strong Capital Management in Menomonee Falls, Wis. He succeeds Jim Brendemuehl, 53, who joined Principal Preservation Portfolios Inc. as senior vice president.

Reliance Group Holdings Inc. in New York has appointed Robert D. Simplot, 45, president and chief executive of RCG Information Technology, a subsidiary. He had been vice president and general manager for North America with Unisys’ Global Customer Services unit.

Rockhaven Asset Management in Pittsburgh has hired Holly R. Harrison, 24, as marketing manager. She had worked as a client administrator for separately managed accounts at Legg Mason Capital Management Inc. in Baltimore.

Prudential Securities Life Agency in Newark, N.J., has appointed William A. Wilde, 57, director. Mr. Wilde joined the agency in 1998 as vice president of administration.

Monument Funds Group in Bethesda, Md., has appointed William J. Kearns Jr., 56, president, national sales. He served as senior vice president at Fidelity Investments and aided in the development and expansion of Fidelity Advisors in Boston.

Landmark Partners in Simsbury, Conn., has named Simon Thornton, 34, vice president of its European operation in London. He had been director of investor relations at BC Partners there.

Prudential Securities in New York has appointed Simon Grill, 40, managing director in its media, entertainment and communications group. He had headed the global communications group for Schroder & Co. in New York.

The unit of Prudential Insurance Co. of America also has named a new U.S. institutional portfolio trading team. Michael Birch, 37, becomes president and manager of portfolio trading and Nicholas Zerille, 37, a sales trader for U.S. accounts. Both worked at ABN Amro Bank in Chicago, Mr. Birch as managing director and Mr. Zerille as a trader. Brendan McMahon, 33, formerly a financial analyst at Salomon Brothers in New York, was appointed equity derivatives specialist.

Evergreen Investment Services Inc. in Charlotte, N.C., has named Maryann Bruce, 39, as president. She had been president and chief executive of Allstate Financial Distributors Inc. in Northbrook, Ill.
