Bill axes federal tax on unemployment pay

A bill recently introduced in the House aims to help out-of-work Americans keep more of their unemployment benefits.

A bill recently introduced in the House aims to help out-of-work Americans keep more of their unemployment benefits. Sponsored by Rep. John McHugh, R-N.Y., HR 6844 would suspend the federal income tax on unemployment compensation benefits for two years. The measure was referred to the Ways and Means Committee.
